Pattern Creations delivers 1- 2 week training blocks at a time.
In our mind, the aim is to train the individuals to gain skills that can then be used to create/make items that are then available for purchasing, creating an enterprise that in turn generates money for the individual/community to make it sustainable & ongoing.
Basic steps need to be learnt first, covering the use of sewing machines & overlockers with the individuals needing a clear understanding of using them prior to moving on. If this already exists, then straight into the workshops one would go!
A weeks workshop on each project would give the ladies a clear understanding & the confidence to continue making the projects, to then have another workshop approximately 4 weeks later to revise what they have done & to move onto the next workshop.
All material & haberdashery items are provided for the workshops delivered as can sewing machines/overlockers if need be. This all depends on funds available & individual requirements for each community.
The workshops include the following (& not limited to), in no particular order, depending on the level of skills understood:
- Sewing Machine/Overlocker tutorials
- Cushion covers
- Bath mats
- Baby items/kids clothes
- Footy Shirts/shorts
- School clothes
- Dresses etc
